This Beautiful Lori Pambak rug was hand woven by Zenfira Kajarova between March 2020 and June 2020 during the lockdown of COVID19. Once the government allowed for traveling the carpet was already off of the loom. Most of the villagers in Kosalar found the lockdown incredibly boring but Zenfira used the time to teach her granddaughter Sabina (11 years old) how to weave. As I was paying Zenfira for her masterful creation I felt a tug on my trousers. Sabina apparently wanted a bit of the cut for her hard work. Everyone had a laugh. It is this intergenerational weaving that is the real hope for reviving and sustaining the cultural heritage of hand woven rugs.
