Sevda is not one of reWoven’s first weavers from her village Kosalar, but she is arguably one of the best. Sevda wove carpets as a young girl, but stopped when she got married at the age of 18 because her husband did not allow it. He wanted to provide for his wife rather than have her work at the loom. At that same time, rug-weaving had all but ceased in the village.
When Sevda heard about reWoven, she decided to try weaving again after not weaving for 30 years. She is joined at the loom by her daughter-in-law, Leyla. They are an amazing team. Every one of their carpets is a masterpiece.
